If you like walking and enjoy being rewarded with a stunning view then there are few better places on earth to do so.
Along with stunning wildlife, your tour wouldn’t be complete without experiencing South Africa’s world famous wineries. After playing 18 holes at Stellenbosch you’ll stay local for a relaxing afternoons wine tasting around these famous winelands, east of the city.
Then after eight great days enjoying Cape Town and George’s sublime golf, food and drink, you’ll make the trip to Botlierskop Private Game Reserve and experience the true magic of safari. You’ll take hosted ranger drives in the early morning, afternoon and evening and experience how the different animals behave throughout the day.
Arrive at Heathrow Airport where you will be greeted by your event host.
After an 11hr British Airways flight to Cape Town your transfers will take you on the short drive to Erinvale Estate, nestled at the foot of the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland Mountains. After checking in, enjoy a well earned rest with welcome drinks for the group, followed by a fine dining experience at the hotel’s restaurant Seventeen07. For those still full of energy, finish off the night with a pint of the black stuff at the Irish themed Skelligs pub.
Start your day overlooking the beautiful garden estate and full breakfast buffet served at Seventeen07 restaurant. After breakfast we will head to the Erinvale Estate Golf Academy where your host will hold a long game instruction where you’ll understand how to get the most from your tee shots and fairway woods.
Once confident you’ll blast your tee shot straight down the middle, we’ll head down to the first tee of this Gary Player-designed course. Enjoying panoramic views across the seaside town of Somerset West, this par 72, 5,892m course undulates through changing terrains, surrounded by mountains, before winding down to the coast at false bay. Erinvale has an enviable international reputation, having previously held the World Cup of Golf and the SAA Open twice, making it undoubtably a course you wont forget. You’ll need to manage your game well around all the bunkers and water, as there’s more than a fair share.
After your round it’s time to relax with some post round drinks on the veranda at the club bar before taking buggies back to the hotel for a rest. After a freshen you’ll meet back at Skelligs hotel bar shortly followed by a trip to Steffani’s Place, a local restaurant overlooking the False Bay area.
After breakfast you will have the choice to stay back at the hotel and sample the relaxing atmosphere of the Spa where you can have a range of facials, massages and body treatments, including exfoliations, body wraps, manicures, pedicures and waxing.
Or if you want to discover more of the South African culture and experience downtown, your host will take you for a whistle stop tour of Cape Town. You’ll get the chance to do a bit of shopping and go down to the V&A Waterfront before we stop for something to eat. For lunch you’ll visit one of Cape Towns famous steak restaurants where you chose your cut personally, have it cooked to your choosing and naturally enjoy it with a few glasses of local fine wine. Any trip to Cape Town wouldn’t be fulfilled without experiencing the breathtaking sights from the summit of Table Mountain. You’ll take the cableway up the mountain to be rewarded with stunning panoramic views across Cape Town as it rolls down to the Indian Ocean.
Once back at the hotel you’ll meet up with any guests who stayed at the Spa and enjoy another beautiful meal prepared by Erinvale’s Executive Chef Stefan Bekker and his team at Seventeen07.
After breakfast at Erinvale we will take the short drive north to Stellenbosch, an area world renowned for its wineries and golf. Before playing, your host will run a coaching instruction at the Stellenbosch Golf Club, this time aimed at long to mid iron play. After the session you will head down to the tee and take on this immaculate championship course surrounded by rolling vineyards and the majestic helderberg mountains.
After working up a thirst, you’ll visit Delheim Wine Estate in the Stellenbosch mountains and have the afternoon to explore the world famous wines that this stunning region has to offer. Later you’ll visit Tokara, perched 400m above sea level this enviable winery has dramatic views across Stellenbosch and False Bay, perfect as you gaze at the sun setting over the bay or rare artworks on the walls, whilst enjoying the contemporary international cuisine served from Tokara’s restaurant.
After breakfast at Erinvale you will checkout and transfer to South Africa’s premier leisure resort, the Fancourt Country Club which is situated in the heart of the Garden Route, on the outskirts of George. The resort offers an abundance of leisure facilities including tennis, mountain biking, fishing and a rather stunning spa, not to mention three rather special Gary Player-designed golf courses.
You’ll then check in to the Five Star Fancourt Hotel with 115 exquisitely decorated rooms, each with their own balcony and views across the lush gardens. To finish off this rest day you’ll have the option of enjoying a free evening meal or spa treatment.
After a choice of breakfast at La Cantina & Monet’s you will make your way across the Fancourt Estate where your host will deliver another golf instruction. Todays lesson will focus on helping you with your short game pitching and bunker play and helping you negotiate your way around the greens.
After your wedges have proved razor sharp, you’ll make your way for the first of two rounds of this stay at Fancourt. The first test is on the Montagu course which has grown into one of South Africas finest 18 hole parkland layouts. The undulating and rolling land makes for challenging golf lies so you’ll need careful management when playing around these beautifully treelined fairways.
After you’ve negotiated this majestic course it’s time to relax with a drink in the Montagu Club House where you can all reflect on your scores before we make our way back to the hotel for dinner.
After breakfast at Fancourt you will get the short transfer along the coast to Pinnacle Point. On arrival your host will provide chipping and putting golf instruction before you take on the best of South African golf and this cliff lined beauty. This spectacular course overlooking the Indian Ocean is set in an expansive and tranquil estate sure to offer an experience you’ll never want to leave.
After playing a round you’ll probably not stop talking about, you’ll take in the views whilst enjoying a post round drink or two. Once back at Fancourt you’ll have the opportunity to relax before we sit down for an evening meal in the hotel.
Back for a day on the Fancourt Estate we’ll start with breakfast in the gardens before you’ll make your way across the estate for the second Fancourt round, this time on the Outeniqua Golf Course. What better place than to spend your final round on this tour before taking in the slightly wilder sights on safari.
In todays golf instruction you’ll learn some of the most important lessons in course strategy and how simple changes can take shots off your game. Once you’re raring to go it’s off to the tee to see what you’ve learned. With easier game play than at the Montagu, challenges come differently and with water on 11 of 18 holes, you’ll be glad you just had a lesson on course strategy.
After four amazing Fancourt nights, once breakfast is over its time to checkout of the Estate where your host will drive you on to Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, just east of George. Situated along the scenic garden route, Botlierskop is a 4,200 hectare family run private reserve home to four of the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino). Not only this but you’ll experience antelope, including rare black impala, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, hippo and many more.
After an afternoon game drive with one of the park rangers we will settle down with an evening meal at Botlierskop’s beautiful Fire Place Restaurant. Expect modern classics served in a modern / game fusion influenced by this special safari location.
While staying at Botlierskop you’ll go out on three range drives throughout the day so you can get to experience the difference in wildlife and activity. Today you’ll be setting the alarm for an early morning ranger drive hoping to spot some new animals, followed by brunch back at the resort.
After relaxing back at the resort you’ll have a few hours before we go back out for your last evening drive, hoping to see a flurry of activity as the sun goes down. After this final drive you’ll settle down with the group for the final meal at the resort and hopefully make some friends for life.
After your final safari inspired breakfast your host will transfer you to George airport. From here you will take a short internal flight back to Cape Town and on to Heathrow where you’ll take with you many memories. This really is the trip of a lifetime and hopefully you’ll be itching to book your next experience with Ike soon.
