Have you always wanted to watch your golf idol smash a 300 yard drive off the first tee or sink that putt for the big win. This years Turkish Airlines Open comes from the Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Antalya, based just down the road from our five star accommodation at the Gloria Golf Resort.
You’ll get to see some of the biggest names in golf, past major winners and Ryder Cup heroes, battle it out for the huge $7 million prize fund, making it one of the most exciting tournaments on this years European Tour.
As the one of the final events on the tour, you’ll have no better opportunity to get up close with the like of Justin Rose, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter as you watch the final two rounds while they aim to close out the golf year on a high.
Back at the stunning Gloria Resort, you’ll be staying in the Golf Hotel with an all inclusive board where you can experience the overwhelming food and drink on offer.
With seven different dining experiences, you’ll get to enjoy a range of worldly dishes including the Turkish Kitchen where the hot coals are sure to cook up a storm. Then wash it all down while watching some of the live music and entertainment provided by the resort.
After breakfast, each day begins with golf instruction from the academy where your host will focus on a different element of the game, followed by rounds at the Gloria’s New and Old courses. A range of competitions between the group will give plenty of opportunity for all to compete with a final prize presentation taking place on the penultimate day.
Between all of the watching and playing golf there is plenty of opportunity to make the most of this resorts fantastic spa facilities where everyone can relax and unwind. Or why not get the heart rate going down at the sports arena which offers more than 50 sports from Europe’s largest complex.
After arriving on the four hour flight into Antalya from Gatwick, you’ll make the short transfer across Belek’s pine forests where the luxurious Gloria resort awaits. Sat on the Mediterranean coast with 500 meters of private golden beach the Gloria is a tranquil heaven, perfect for those who want to get away from it all.
After check in at the Gloria Golf you’ll enjoy one or two well earned welcome drinks in the Oasis Bar where all the groups guests will meet before dinner.
Dinner on the first night takes place in the Anatolia buffet restaurant where you can experience mouthwatering Turkish cuisine, featuring a different theme every evening. For those still full of energy, finish off the night with a few drinks in the Lobby Bar.
Start your day with breakfast served in the courtyard of Anatolia overlooking the resorts beautiful gardens. After breakfast we will head to the resort Golf Academy where your host will hold a short game instruction which will help when it comes to getting out of all the bunkers and water that comes into play on the New Course.
Once confident you can splash the perfect bunker shot, we’ll head down to the first tee of the Gloria’s New Course for a team Texas Scramble competition. This is the second ‘championship’ course, par 72, 6,523m which undulates through the tree lined terrains, in a challenging and unforgettable but fair test of golf. Like many of the great courses, the final holes live up to the hype, especially the 17th which isn’t too dissimilar to another legendary 17th at Sawgrass with it’s own take on the island green. This lake comes into play on a few holes so in your Texas Scramble team just make sure one plays safely out of trouble as scorecards can easily dramatically turn around if you don’t give it respect.
After your round it’s time to relax with some post round drinks on the veranda overlooking the 18th before making our way back to the hotel for a bit of rest time before dinner. This is a great opportunity to take advantage of whats regarded as one of Turkeys best spa facilities and get a much needed massage after a day on the course.
Before dinner we will meet in the lobby bar before making our way to enjoy the very finest in À La Carte Italian cuisine at the stylishly presented L’ancora restaurant overlooking the poolside.
After breakfast and golf instruction looking at fairway woods and drivers, it’s on to day two of the resort courses, this time on the Old Course which is on of Turkeys oldest and favourites for travelling players. Designed by Michel Gayon, this is a classic design set in the beautiful pine woodland has some very strong holes set in and around 60 bunkers. This might mean you need to be creative around the greens but once on the dance floor, these carpet like greens will do all they can to help, being that they are among the best in the area.
Once someone finishes a round with the inevitable 40+ points scorecard, it’s on to the Pier Bar. This is the perfect spot for a sun downer as we can all call the winner out over their handicap, but more importantly enjoy a refreshing cocktail as the sun drops into the sea.
This evenings meal is a taste of world cuisine, featuring Ottoman-inspired design at the Harem International Restaurant. After dinner the evening continues in to the Café Bar where the regular evening entertainment of live music keeps the day alive well into the night.
After breakfast it’s time for some well needed course management as todays round is back at the New Course. It’s time to reflect on the first round and manage your game differently as today you’re on your own in the Stableford competition. Try not to admire the lake down the right of the 9th as you’ll be surely sucked in as it shapes the length of the whole fairway, requiring a day for straight shots.
After working up a thirst, it’s time for something different down at the Patisserie where we’ll have the afternoon enjoying freshly baked cake, cookies, macaroons and not to mention prosecco. After a freshen up it’s time for dinner at another of the Gloria’s amazing restaurants. This evening starts at the Pescado À La Carte Restaurant offering a traditional Spanish atmosphere and delicious flavours, sure to promise a delightful meal. For those who like live music, it’s off to the Lobby Bar for more live music into the night.
Today is the first of two days at the Turkish Airlines Open where you can catch the final rounds at the Montgomerie Golf Club, in what is one of the European Tours most exciting competitions. With its $7 million prize fund and being one of the last dates of the golfing calendar, players are sure to bring out all the stops before the close of the year. After watching the likes of Justin Rose, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and a host of former Ryder Cup and major winners, you’ll make your way over to the Hospitality Tent for lunch as the early starters finish their rounds. They’ll be plenty of opportunity for signatures as the players start to come in off the 18th in a well supported but not overly crowded event. If you’ve wanted to get a good view of your golf idol and watch them play then this is the event to do it.
Once back at the resort, it’s time to relax and then down to dinner at Turkuaz. These unmistakably outstanding dishes offer the best in Turkish cuisine from a country that knows a thing or two about food.
In the same pattern as yesterday, it’s back to the Montgomerie Golf Club to watch the final thrilling round at this magnificent event. You’ll have more opportunity to get signatures and meet the players as they tee off, all hoping to be the ones lifting the trophy on the 18th.
Lunch will be back at the Hospitality Tent and then after the prize presentation, it’s back to the hotel for dinner at Mosaique. Each evening is different, taking on a new theme all set in the striking architecture of the Mosaique Main Restaurant.
After two thrilling days watching the pros battle it out, its your time to take that inspiration out on to the New Course. Who will hold their nerve as you’ll be split into two teams, competing in the ultimate Ryder Cup style battle. Before taking on the challenge todays golf instruction will focus on your short game and putting so you can make the most of the carpet like greens. After a great game, our two teams will soak it all up with post round drinks at the Gloria Golf before we transfer back to the hotel. Why not take advantage of the time before dinner and pop down to the spa or for the more active, try any of the countless activities and sports available from the resort.
After our final dinner its time to congratulate all our players and winners throughout the weeks competition. There will be a presentation for each day but unlike the Turkish Airlines Open, it’s not quite a $7 million prize fund!
After your final breakfast and quick spa swim, your host will transfer you to Antalya airport for the flight back to London Gatwick. This really is a great golfing experience and one of the best opportunities in the golfing calendar to meet your idols. Hopefully you’ll be itching to book your next experience with Ike soon.
